If It Kills Me Lyrics – Melanie Fiona
Oh yeah I’ve got trouble with my friends
Trouble in my life
Problems when you don’t come home at night
But when you do you always start a fight
But I can’t be alone. I need you to come on home
I know you messing around, but who the hell else is going to hold me down
Ooooh. I got to be out my mind to think it’s going to work this time
A part of me wants to leave, but the other side still believes
And it kills me to know how much I really love you
So much I want to ooh hoo ohh to you hoo hoo
Should I grab his cell, call this chick up
Start some shhhh then hang up
Or I should I be a lady
Oohh maybe cause I want to have his babies
Ohh yah yeah ‘cause I don’t want to be alone
I don’t need to be on my own
But I love this man
But some things I can’t stand ohhhh
I’ve got to be out my mind
To think it’s going to work this time
A part of me wants to leave but the other half still believes
and it kills me to know how much I really love you
So much I want to oohh hoo ohhh, to you hoo hooo

If you are this woman:
This is a situation in which you are so afraid to confront the reality that he needs to be kicked to the curb. You are willing to suppress your feelings just to hold on to a man who obviously wants to play the field. Notice how you’ve already confessed that you know that he is messing around, yet you would rather be with a cheating man than to have to be alone. My heart goes out to any woman going through this situation—especially you!
Where do we get this craziness of calling the other woman? Why is it that we are okay with calling the other girl to “start some shhh” as Melanie Fiona says in this song? The other girl should be the last person on our mind. What you should be thinking about is how disrespectful he has been to you. He’s not even coming home at night and when he does—he’s always trying to start a fight and it is probably to keep you distracted from asking questions about where he’s been. Remember, you can fight the other girl if you want to, but as long as your man is comfortable with being disrespectful to you, you will always be fighting the other girl. You will exhaust yourself fighting with “the other girl.” So, you can scare her away all you like—but the problem will still be there. The real problem is that your man doesn’t respect you or the concept of a monogamous relationship. You’ve got to deal with that first.
We begin to believe that if we just stay quiet and stay focused on him, then one day he will start acting right and he will start loving you the way you’ve loved him for so long. I know that you love him, but girlfriend, you are out of your mind. You are out of your right mind. We sometimes can become so indulged in an unhealthy relationship that we start to think that what is wrong is right and what is right is wrong. Do not let him fool you—that sickness you feel in the pit of your stomach is your soul begging you to walk away. Maybe it’s time for you to listen. Maybe it’s time for you face your fear and try sleeping with a broken heart. This, too, shall pass.
