So, you have been invited to an interview, that’s great! But…you have also been informed the interview is in 24 hours!
This will likely stir up a lot of panic and stress in many job seekers, but trust me, there is a way to handle this short notice with ease.
In this week’s video, I will be giving you 5 tips on how to handle a short notice job interview like a pro.
Each tip builds on each other, giving you further insight into what is needed of you to make sure you are prepared.
Don’t spend too much time worrying about the short timeframe, use this time to watch the video, take notes, and do your own brief research.

So, you’ve been invited to interview at the last minute? And now you realize that you do not have all of the time in the world to do what you would usually do which is to go into study mode to learn EVERYTHING you can about the organization in order to prepare?
This video is for you if you are looking for cliff notes on what to focus on if you only have 24 hours to prepare for an interview.

Tip #1: Know What Type of Interview You Are Preparing For.
Is it a pre-screen, an interview with the hiring manager, or is it an on-site interview? Each of these requires a different level of preparation. The good news is if you have one of the first two interviews coming up, all you need to do is watch my previous two videos. That’s it!
Tip #2: Know Your Narrative.
What story does your resume tell about you. You need to be able to verbally align your messaging to your resume. Study your resume to make sure that you can easily recall what you’ve listed.
**Only move on to the next tips if you are preparing for an onsite or an in-person interview.
Tip #3: Learn More About What Your Interview Itinerary Will Look Like.
The more you know about how your day will be originated (i.e., how long your interviews will be), the better you can prepare. For instance, if you know an interview will only last 15 minutes, there’s only so much a person can ask (and answer) in that timeframe. But if you know that an interview will be 90 minutes, then you will know to spend more time trying to prepare for that one.

Tip #4: Find Out Who Will Be Interviewing You
Try and make it the name and title, if possible. This way you can do your research and learn more about them. Do not spend a lot of time here. The research may only be to check out their LinkedIn profile. You can always discover some interesting things about a person’s work experience and career interests there. Maybe you will find common ground.
**You know, LinkedIn can be used for plenty of things. We do have some upcoming videos that will go into the world of LinkedIn but to get you started, take a look at one of our previous recorded video, “How to Use LinkedIn to Find a Job (TELL A RECRUITER YOU’RE INTERESTED)” .
Tip #5: Learn About What’s Most Important To The Company (And Maybe Even Their Biggest Challenges)
You can discover this by looking at an annual statement. Learn how to be a solution to the employer. The best way to learn how to be a solution is to find out what their problem is and demonstrate that you have the knowledge, skills, and experience to fix it.
Outside of this, do not spend a lot of time over analyzing financial statements (unless you are applying for a financial officer role), and do not become stalkerish to the interviewers as you are researching them. Keep in mind that three of the five tips are super simple and involve you asking your point of contact. The last two tips require work, but very minimal.

The best advice that I can give you is to remember that no matter who you are, you would not have gotten invited to that (on-site) interview if you did not meet the qualifications. The best thing you can really do to prepare at this point is to remove the doubt of your ability to be competitive. Know that you deserve to be there just as much as anyone else interviewing for the role. Your confidence could be added bonus that lands you the job. But confidence comes from knowing that you deserve to be there. Don’t forget that!
