Show Notes:

Three steps to help you recognize and leverage your value:

  1. Figure-out what title or position you want

  2. Find three job descriptions then identify what qualifications you meet directly, indirectly, and not at all

  3. Revamp your resume to include the direct and indirect qualifications

Two steps to help you strengthen your narrative when discussing your knowledge skills and experience with employers:

  1. Based on the knowledge, skills, and experience you have listed on your resume, practice talking about your knowledge, skills (include transferable skills), and experience in context to the role you are interested in by your self.

  2. Practice with a friend or family member.

This process will help you to see how near or far you are from your ideal job and what you will need to do to close gaps, if any.

Bonus: When you are ready, be sure to update your resume to include the direct and indirect qualifications that you meet based on your exercise.

How to strengthen your own confidence in your self-perceived value.

  1. Complete the exercise above.

  2. Practice by yourself. Based on the knowledge, skills, and experience you have listed on your resume, practice talking about your knowledge, skills (include transferable skills), and experience in context to the role you are interested in by your self.

  3. Take that same narrative and practice in front of loved ones. Talk about why you are qualified to do the desired role in terms of what you meet directly and indirectly and what you are prepared to do to close any gaps.

  4. Develop confidence to share this narrative at interviews. The more you begin to share this narrative out loud, the more you will find it begins to deeply resonate and become a familiar self narrative. Practice makes perfect.

Be clear about the value you bring to the table for any employer before applying to open opportunities. “

”We begin to build up these thoughts in our mind that we are not ready or that we are not experienced and we never check those thought processes. We have to fact check ourselves and debunk those myths.
