We’ve had a lot of fun over the summer with our most recent newsletters, including the spotlight interview with Danette Buie and Dan Egol and the newsletter in which we shared some perspectives from community members (like you) on avoiding the use of the word “minority.” As a matter of fact, through the Increase Diversity newsletter, we have had great success with enrolling recruiters and recruiting leaders into our Qualified Diversity Recruiter (QDR) Bootcamp while at the same time also launching the new Fast Track QIL Training for hiring managers. We discussed one of our bestselling eBooks, titled The Hiring System (+Its Hidden Obstacle Course) AND (my favorite part) we celebrated crossing 60,000 subscribers to this newsletter.

Pssst - we are now close to 70,000

So, if you are one of the 15,000 new subscribers that have joined the community over the summer, let’s take a moment and get you caught up with us as we move into the fall. For this week’s newsletter, I want to share some of the most memorable quotes from our recently published articles.

Welcome to the Increase Diversity community! Happy reading!

#1. Initiatives that focus only on one-off training, compliance, or locate this work solely under HR are both ineffective and uninspiring given the enormity of systemic issues our generations are inheriting. - Dan Egol

#2. Belonging is the outcome of an effective diversity, equity, and inclusion program.

#3. Job descriptions should be inclusive and should not be so constricting that they present barriers for what is a highly eligible candidate.

Taken from: 3 Actions to Stop Doing to Increase Diversity

#4. Even if we don’t understand the need for pronouns, or don’t agree with them, we must always be respectful of the way an individual wishes to be addressed.

#5. However, it is important to note that as human beings, we do not identify as just one social group. We are intersectional individuals.

#6. Assessing a candidate for an open position requires you to look at three things: their knowledge, skills, and experience.

#7. The idea of belonging requires no action from the participants. Belonging means that you belong just because of who and how you are.
