Last week we shared our 2023 Increase Diversity™Employer of Choice Award recipients recognizing workplaces moving the needle to increase diversity and promote a culture of inclusion.

You may remember, we shared, “To a workplace, increasing diversity means moving the needle in a positive direction toward creating well-represented candidate pools, equitable hiring processes, and inclusive workplace environments where employees can grow and feel a deep sense of belonging. To an individual, increasing diversity means representation. It is about taking chances on ourselves and navigating inequities to reach for more in our careers. Here at Team JTC, we continue to be proud of the work that individuals and workplaces are doing to increase diversity around the globe.”

That remains true as this week, we are thrilled to recognize our 2023 Increase Diversity™Bet On Yourself Award recipients. These are individuals from historically underrepresented backgrounds who bet on themselves daily while journeying to the top of their profession - both inside and outside of the workplace.

The winners were selected based on their commitment to bet on themselves. Here at Team JTC, Bet on Yourself is an action phrase. It means to invest in you, take a chance on you, and take a leap of faith to reach for more – for yourself and anyone who depends on you. Here’s what we believe at TeamJTC: How you show up in your career affects how you show up in life.  How you show up in life impacts how you  show up in your career.  It is  ALL  life.  Your career is only one aspect of your life. So, you don’t just wake up successful. Success is a journey, and the reward comes from the tiny and large decisions we make daily.  Betting on Yourself is more of, “I’m moving in the right direction toward the vision that I have for my life.”

Please join Team JTC in congratulating 🥁 (drumroll, please).

Keyah Levy, Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Simpson College-Indianola

"Bet on Yourself" means that you can make a difference! It means that despite adversity, systemic barriers, and naysayers, you bet on yourself to make a difference in the world, your community, your workplace, and the lives of those around you.

Matthew French, Founder of Awesomely Authentic.

“As a first gen college student from a small coal mining town in the Appalachian Mountains, I have always had to bet on myself. For me, betting on myself is having the courage to take unknown steps forward in life to not only help yourself succeed with a fulfilling life but to help support and lift up communities in the process.”

Shaden Hawley, Health and Wellness Life Coach

“‘Bet on Yourself’ means investing in your life from a holistic perspective; mind, body, spirit, and soul. It means dedicating yourself to your goals and dreams, regardless of obstacles and in the face of adversity. It means nurturing your body so that you have the strength to persevere. Betting on yourself means that you believe in your abilities, experience, prior knowledge, talent, and potential. It means finding a balance between all that goes on in your mind with all that goes on in the physical world. Betting on yourself means that you believe in your purpose and your ability to achieve it.”

Congratulations! 🎉 And a very special thank you to all who participated in the inaugural Increase Diversity™Awards. It is our intention to host annually. So, in other words, we hope to see your application in the Fall of 2023. More information to come.
